Description: This course focuses on the development of skills required for successful performance in men's gymnastics. Standardized progression of skills instruction is used in floor exercise, parallel bars, horizontal bars, vaulting, still rings and pommel horse. The concepts covered include gymnastics vocabulary, safety, injury prevention, balance and body alignment. This course is designed for students interested in fitness, gymnastics, martial arts and kinesiology majors. This course may be taken four times for credit. Students must demonstrate increased proficiency and skill attainment with each repetition. When this course is offered for three hours a week the additional time is utilized in the performance of an increased number of compulsory routines.
