George Svoboda



B.A., M.A., San Diego State University

Degree from State Conservatory of Pilsen, Czechoslovakia

Mr. Svoboda earned both a B.A. and an M.A. degree in Music from San Diego State University. In addition, he graduated from a four year program at the State Conservatory of Pilsen in Czechoslovakia with a degree in classical guitar performance, music theory, and music history.

Mr. Svoboda has been an adjunct professor at Mesa College since 1995, teaching, guitar ensemble and honors courses and giving private instruction through the Applied Music Program. In addition, he taught guitar studies at California State University, San Marcos in 1996 and has taught guitar and private studies at San Diego State University Since 1998. Also, he has taught beginning and intermediate guitar at Grossmont College since 2001.

Mr. Svoboda is an accomplished guitarist, well known in the region for his highly professional and artistic presentations. In 1996, he co-wrote and performed the music for the Old Globe’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing.” He has also performed with the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Ballet, and San Diego Opera, and he has appeared as a soloist with the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra. His passion for classical and ethnic music has led him to perform throughout the world. He has written, arranged, published, and performed music representing a variety of cultural influences, including Spanish, Gypsy, East European, North African, Middle Eastern, Latin Jazz and classical. In addition, he has extensive knowledge and experience in classical and modern guitar literature.
