James Romeo graduated with his B.S. in music from Kent State University and the M.M. degree from The University of Akron. Before teaching at San Diego Mesa College,
 Professor Romeo was Assistant Director of Bands 
at California State University, Fullerton. Prior 
to that, he was the Associate Conductor of Bands
 and Professor of Saxophone at The University of
 Akron in Ohio.

Mr. Romeo is a saxophonist with the San Diego Symphony and the San Diego Saxophone Quartet. He has played with the Cleveland
Winds, the New York City Ballet, and the New York Chamber Orchestra. He has appeared
 as both a participant and soloist in three World Saxophone Congresses as well as at numerous
 other national and regional events.

He has had various saxophone compositions written for him including a recent
 premier of Harry Semantix, written by Dr. Igor Korneitchouk. Mr. Romeo debuted this piece 
at Lincoln Center with the New York Chamber Orchestra in March of 2000.

He has played with or under Arthur Fiedler, Robert Shaw, Frederick Fennel, Bob
 Hope, Bob Boss, Bob Magnusson, Louis Bellson, Bobby Shew, Eddie Daniels, Gary Foster,

The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Bill Watrous, Gary Foster, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Linda Ronstadt, Mitch and Mickey, and many other high profile musicians and entertainers.

James Romeo is full Professor of Music
at San Diego Mesa College where he directs the award-winning Concert Jazz Band and courses in jazz 
history and instructs all saxophone majors for the Music Department. He also directs the Kearny Mesa Concert Band for San Diego Continuing Education. His ensembles are in great demand for
 campus and community functions.
