Jaeryoung Lee, an active performer and music educator, took her first piano lesson at the age of six. After she completed her B.A. in Social Studies at Ewha Women’s University in South Korea, Ms. Lee earned two Master’s Degrees at San Diego State University: a Master of Arts in Piano Pedagogy (classical music emphasis) and a Master of Music in Jazz Performance.
Ms. Lee has appeared in many different venues from classical to jazz as a pianist, vocalist, accompanist, bandleader and musical director. She and her jazz arrangements have been featured on local radio and television programs in the California area, and she has worked as the musical director for local theater productions, including the San Diego Repertory Theatre. Ms. Lee regularly composes, arranges, and performs dozens of arrangements for her own jazz trio and as a pianist/vocalist, she has performed with many noted musicians, including Peter Sprague, Vinny Golia, Bill Watrous and Jung-ho Pak.
In addition to performing, Ms. Lee serves as Associate Professor of Music at the Music Departments of San Diego Mesa College and MiraCosta College where she teaches applied piano (classic and jazz), class piano, music theory (classic and jazz), music appreciation, music for elementary school teachers, show choir, and class voice for the jazz vocalist.
