The destination and event business is a division of the tourism industry that encompasses the travel arena and is also prominent in business marketing and promotions. The $100-billion industry currently employs 1.5 million people who plan events, meetings, conventions and trade shows. They coordinate the facilities- hotels, convention centers, multi-use stadiums and other event and meeting sites. Also needed are the suppliers, convention service contractors, audiovisual firms, transportation and destination management companies, rental-equipment providers, entertainers, floral and decor companies, and other organizations that provide services.
