Bonnie ZoBell received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Columbia University in New York and her A.B. in English from San Diego State University. She received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Creative Writing in 1995, and one of her short stories was selected in 1997 by Joyce Carol Oates for inclusion in the anthology American Fiction: The Best Unpublished Short Stories by Emerging Writers, Volume 9.

Another of her stories won a PEN Syndicated Fiction Award, and she has published short stories and creative nonfiction in numerous magazines. She has taught at San Diego State University, the University of San Diego, and City University of New York. Currently, she is a Professor of English and a member of the faculty senate at Mesa College, where she has taught since 1984.
