We welcomed our last FYE cohort in 2018-2019.

Please check out the San Diego Promise Program as alternative support program.

The  Promise program comes with a variety of benefits: free tuition for up to two years, an assigned peer mentor/success coach, specialized counseling and guidance support, and additional campus engagement opportunities.

FYE Mission Statement

The mission of FYE is to create an environment that supports a first year students’ academic and social transition into the San Diego Mesa College community. The program offers students a comprehensive first-year experience that empowers them as engaged learners, integrates them into the college community as meaningful participants in campus life, and facilitates their successful transition into future transfer and career pathways.

FYE gives you help with applying, early registration, and all the academic support you need to succeed in your first year in college and beyond.


Requirements

FYE is a program for recently graduated high school seniors. As an FYE student you are committing to your education and your goals. You will enroll in 12 or more units for your fall and spring semester. You must enroll in English and Math each semester as it applies to your major and Personal Growth 120 in the fall. This is what your first year might look like:

Important Information for Current FYE Students

If you are a current FYE student and have questions regarding class registration, student ed plans or other issues, please contact the Counseling Office at 619-388-2672.

Counseling appointments are booked a week in advance but you are welcome to come and do a drop in appointment for a quick 15-minute session with a counselor. All counselors are up-to-date on FYE so you can see any counselor that is available.

The Counseling Office is located on the 3rd floor of the the I400 building in room I4-303.
