Online services and Resources 

 

Welcome to San Diego Mesa College's Online Counseling Services.

These services are designed to provide counseling assistance through email or by appointment to our Mesa College student population. Please review the criteria below for  accessing our Ask a Counselor or Online Counseling Appointment options. 

Ask a Counselor (General Questions):  If you are a prospective student or have general questions about pursuing your goals at Mesa College you can email questions to mesacoun@sdccd.edu. All emails will be responded to by a Mesa counselor in the order in which it was received. Counselor response time will be determined by student demand and counselor availability. Please take time to review the parameters of this service below.

The Ask a Counselor service is appropriate for questions pertaining to:

  • College procedures and academic policies
  • Certificate, degree, and transfer requirements
  • Course prerequisites
  • Course offerings and course content
  • Referral to other programs/services

The Ask a Counselor service is not appropriate for areas such as:

  • Personal Counseling
  • Career Counseling
  • Transcript Evaluation
  • Reinstatement for Academic Status issues (i.e. disqualification)

For privacy purposes, we will not review your academic record through the Ask A Counselor service. This email is designed for general questions only. If you have specific questions or concerns about your record please visit the Counseling Department (located on the 3rd floor of the I-400 Student Services building) for a drop-in session or schedule a one hour in-person or online appointment if you meet the eligibility requirements

Be aware that due to the nature of the internet and email technology there can be no assurance of confidentiality when using this online service. 

Online Counseling Appointment:  This service is designed to allow eligible students to schedule an online appointment through Zoom web-conferencing with a Mesa Counselor. To quialify for an online appointment you must meet the following eligibility/ priority consideration requirements:

  • Be enrolled in at least one class at San Diego Mesa College and have previously completed courses at Mesa
  • Have all prior college transcripts on file and evaluated

OR

  • Have been Disqualified for Academics or Progress and need to sign an academic contract

Note:  Priority consideration will be given to Mesa students taking their courework fully online. 

If you have met the eligibility requirements, please read the Statement of Consent. If you agree to the conditions outlined in the consent statement, you may submit a request for an online counseling appointment. Please fill out and submit the Mesa Online Counseling Appointment Request Form. If you do not agree with the Statement of Consent, please contact the Counseling Department at 619-388-2672 to schedule an on-campus appointment.

Please be advised, appointments are scheduled based on availability. 

No Show Policy: If you miss two scheduled online apointments in one semester you will not be able to rescchedule until the following semester. Please proivde at least 24 hours notice of a cancellation by contacting Counseling at 619-388-2672.
