Mesa College President, SDCCD Trustee Receive 2009 Visionary Award from the San Diego Cesar E. Chavez Commemoration Committee

Rita M. Cepeda, Ed.D., President of Mesa College, and Peter Zschiesche, San Diego Community College District Trustee have been named the 2009 Visionary Award recipients by the Cesar E. Chavez Commemoration Committee. They were recognized and presented awards at the 11th Annual Cesar E. Chavez Commemorative Breakfast in March. The award is presented annually to outstanding citizens who embody the principles and core values of Cesar E. Chavez, which include service to others, sacrifice, helping the needy, determination, community and acceptance.

President Cepeda has also been elected to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning July 2, 2009.
