The event is part of National Geographic Society’s Geography Awareness Week -- an international forum for users of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society. The hot new technology of GIS – or, Geographic Information System -- is not only changing the way we live, it’s changing the jobs we do, too. GIS Technicians are one of the most sought after careers in 2009, and the demands for this career continually on the rise.

Mesa College offers one of the most comprehensive GIS programs in Southern California. The college offers both degree and certificate programs and is the only program in San Diego County specifically designed to prepare students to enter the workforce as a GIS Analyst.

The public is invited to this free event. For more information, see: www.sdmesa.edu/gis.
