As you begin down the road toward earning your degree, certificate, or transfer to a baccalaureate-degree granting college or university, there are a five steps that you need to complete at the start of your journey. Completion of the following steps will not only make you better prepared to face the rigors of college life, but will also give you the opportunity to access priority registration.
Step 1: Application - Start by completing the online application for admission
Step 2: Orientation - Complete the online New Student Orientation (Flash player required)
Step 3: Assessment - Visit the Assessment office to learn about English and math testing
Step 4: Advisement - Visit a Counselor to develop your Abbreviated Education Plan
Step 5: Registration - Register for classes
The online orientation will take you less than two hours to complete and, once you begin, you can save your progress if you need to sign out and return later. Print out the New Student Checklist (updated July 2014) to help you keep track of your progress as you complete these steps.
Assessment is another important part of getting started at Mesa College. Please be sure you are prepared by reviewing these practice tests and bringing your photo ID with you to the Assessment Center (I4-201). Your placement results will be emailed to you.
When you receive those results, bring them and the Abbreviated Education Plan worksheet with you to the Counseling Office (I4-303) for assistance in developing your education plan.
There are additional programs and services offered at San Diego Mesa College that can support your transition to college life. Check out these supplemental presentations for more information.
