Education:
B.A., M.L.S., Queens College
My husband Ron and I moved to San Diego from New
Jersey in July 1990. I have been a librarian for over 30 years, primarily at
the Bronx High School of Science
and Peter Rouget Intermediate School 88
in Brooklyn. I received both my Bachelor of Arts degree in history and Master
of Library Science degree from Queens College in New York City.
As of Fall 2000, I am Mesa Library's full-time Instruction Librarian after having been
both Instruction and Periodicals Librarian since November
1991. As Instruction Librarian, I am responsible for all the library's
instructional programs, including the creation of materials and scheduling of
classes. I also teach classes and do any one-on-one instruction that may be required.
I am also the library's liaison to the following departments:
- Allied Health
- Asian American Studies
- Biology
- Consumer / Family Studies
- Fashion
- Food Services / Hospitality
- Teacher Education

In addition to my library duties, I currently serve as the LRC's
representative on the
Academic Senate
and am a member of the campus-wide Scholarship Banquet Committee. I also
serve on several department committees and on the District-wide Library Advisory Group. I am a
reader for the Mesa College Foundation scholarships, and my husband and I endowed our
own scholarship for future teachers. But my favorite extracurricular activity is being an advisor
to Mesa's chapter of
Alpha Gamma Sigma, the California
State Community College Honor Society. This position, which I have held since 1993, gives me a
chance to know some of the students in a way more "up close and personal" than working with them
in the library allows.
My major off-campus interest is Science Fiction. I have been an SF fan for over 20 years as
both reader and viewer. Ron and I are members of the committee that runs
Con-Dor, a local Science Fiction
convention. We also work on regional conventions, the annual
World Science Fiction Convention, and San Diego's own
Comic-Con International. My other interests include
singing (Ron and I have been members of
several choruses over the years, including the Masterwork
Chorus which sang at New York's Carnegie and Philharmonic Halls), traveling, dancing, and
other endeavors that expand and contract to fit the time available.
