About the Humanities Institute
The Humanities Institute predates and served as precursor to the Service Learning & Humanities Institute. The Humanities Institute was developed by San Diego Mesa College in 1990 and received special funding from the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees. It was designed to fulfill the following major objectives:
- To enhance experiences and communication in the arts and humanities among faculty, students, professional artists, and the San Diego community.
- To provide an organizational vehicle for support of programs, projects, activities, and events involving the arts and humanities.
- To implement more effective staff development programs for faculty in the arts and humanities.
