To guide the development of the Basic Skills Initiative at San Diego Mesa College in line with established state guidelines as follows:

Carry out the Basic Skills Initiative self-assessment and establish action and expenditure plans.
Review and recommend short- and long-term activities.
Advise on the development and implementation of curriculum and services to address the new graduation requirements to be implemented Fall 2009.
Review research information, quantitative and qualitative, on student success and retention at Mesa College. Recommend activities based on research findings.
Provide guidance on the implementation of the findings from the CCSSE Research and other research activities on student success.
