Although assistive technology is increasingly available in campus labs, there is a laboratory on campus which is more directly tailored to training in assistive technology. This highly individualized lab, The High Tech Center, is located in the LRC room 209.

This lab is accessible to students who qualify for services through DSPS. Students who enroll in the High Tech Center receive instruction on using computer hardware and specialized software applications. Students typically enroll in this lab to utilize assistive technology in meeting their other course requirements. Individually paced video training modules are available for most conventional office and multimedia software applications. The lab also allows DSPS students the opportunity to refresh their basic skills and to develop proficiency with the assistive software and hardware before enrolling in other college courses.

Examples of assistive technology available in the High Tech Center include; screen readers, screen magnification software, alternative input devices, spell checkers, speech synthesizers, word predictors, and more.

You are welcome to arrange a visit to the High Tech Center to learn more about this specially equipped lab.
