Description: This course is designed not only for art students, but also for those who are interested in history, religion, philosophy, humanities, and cultural enrichment. It is an introduction to the background, aesthetics, styles, and iconography of African art. It covers a selected group of cultures throughout the continent, with an emphasis on sub-Saharan West and Central Africa. Classroom lectures are illustrated.
