Description: This course is for students enrolled in the Dental Assisting Program. This laboratory course presents the practical application of preventive dental care, including an analysis of personal/patient nutrition and nutritional counseling. This lab course also focuses on the principles and techniques necessary for personal preventive oral hygiene. Patient education strategies for maintaining preventive oral hygiene and regular professional care are included. The practice of using fluoridation and sealants as preventive measures against tooth decay is covered.
