Description: This is an introductory course designed to teach students to understand, speak, read and write German, and become familiar with recent German culture and history. Emphasis is placed on learning the fundamentals of grammar, speaking in simple sentences using correct pronunciation, responding to questions regarding everyday life, and reading short selections about everyday activities. Fundamentals of oral and written grammar and a correct reading of simple German are practiced. This course is appropriate for students who are preparing to major in German as well as those who are interested in developing proficiency in the language.
