(8:00 AM – 8:45 AM) Opening/Plenary Session

Description: Please join us for this year's opening session kickoff which will include remarks from Chancellor Carroll, Interim President Armstrong, Dean Bergland, and other dignitaries. Staff who preregistered for the conference will be eligible for the first round of giveaways.

(9:00 AM – 11:30 AM) Difficult Students and Personal Safety

Presenter: Sergeant Diana Medero - Mesa College Police

Location: G-101

Description: This workshop will cover how to deal with difficult and disruptive students and what steps to take if a situation escalates, as well as the role of campus police. Also covered are campus safety procedures and tips for personal safety, both on campus and off. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Presenter: Jim Mahler - AFT President

Description: Join AFT President Jim Mahler for a question and answer session that covers AFT Food Services, Office/Technical and Maintenance and Operations contracts. You will have an opportunity to discuss your rights and responsibilities, and walk away with a better understanding of your collective bargaining rights.

(9:00 AM – 11:30 AM) Nutrition Rx and Healthy Cooking Demonstration

Presenter: Greg Mantuano - Healthy Adventures

Location: G-102

Description: This workshop will briefly review the basics of healthy eating. Learn how to make the best food choices in an array of confusing marketing, and the role of phytochemical and functional foods that impact health, disease, and moods. Also included is a cooking demonstration using healthy food combinations that taste great!

(9:00 AM – 11:30 AM) Biometric Health Screenings

Presenter: Healthy Adventures and VEBA

Location: G-105/G-107

Description: What are your health numbers, what do they mean, and what you can do to change them? Biometric screenings will include blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, oxygen saturation, height, weight, body mass index, body composition (body fat), girth measurements, waist-to-hip ratios, blood glucose, and blood cholesterol. A one-hour workshop following the screening will discuss what the screenings mean and what they health outcomes they target, and different lifestyle strategies that you can due to influence these numbers and improve your health! Health coaching sign-ups will also be available.

(1:00 PM – 3:30 PM) Bullying in the Workplace

Presenter: Mary Rider - Grossmont College Counselor / AFT VP

Location: G-106

Description: This workshop will identify bullying behavior in the workplace, including who does it, who's affected by it, and the negative consequences it has for everyone. This workshop will include a discussion regarding what individuals and institutions can do to prevent workplace bullying.

(1:00 PM – 3:30 PM) Creating a Healthy Work Environment: Physical and Mental Ergonomics

Presenter: Wendy Hileman - Healthy Adventures

Location: G-102

Description: This workshop will briefly review what a healthy work environment looks like and give strategies to improve your work environment policies and practices in areas such as team building, workstation setup, breaks and healthy lunch breaks, office exercises, injury prevention, stress management, healthy communication, time management, and more!

Presenter: Paul Vasquez - District Network Specialist

Description: The Internet is an unmatched resource for home, education, and business. No matter where and how you use the Internet, it is critical to protect your privacy and security when online. Internet Safety Training is a workshop designed for both novice and experienced Windows or Macintosh users who want to avoid security issues plaguing most Internet-connected computers. You'll learn how to effectively resolve various computer vulnerabilities, with topics covering physical security, malware, and five things you must do each week to minimize the chance your computer will be compromised.

(8:00 AM – 11:45 AM) RAD – Rape Aggression Defense** (women only)

Presenter: Sergeant Diana Medero - Mesa College Police

Location: H117/118

Description: This workshop is a short version of the full RAD workshop which spans multiple days. RAD is a system of realistic self-defense tactics in which woman learn awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance techniques to enhance personal safety in the workplace, at home and in other varied situations. Basic hands-on defense training is also covered. Open to women only.

(8:00 AM – 11:45 AM) Adult CPR with AED Certification

Presenter: Sue Lalicker, Lisa Williams, Farideh Farheidar - Mesa College

Location: K109/K109E

Description: Participants will learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults as well as proper use of automatic external defibrillators. This training meets OSHA Guidelines and combines lecture, interactive video demonstrations featuring emergency scenarios that are likely to occur in a variety of environments, and hands-on training to teach lifesaving skills. Participants receive two-year certification upon workshop completion.

This workshop is designed to be taken with First Aid Certification. Enrollment is limited to 30.

Participants receive two-year certification upon workshop completion.

**Completion of Adult CPR with AED Certification morning session or current CPR certification is required to attend this workshop.

Enrollment is limited to 30.
