The Classified Senate represents all classified employees at San Diego Mesa College within the shared governance structure and decision making process of the College. Some of the Senate's responsibilities include:
—Representing the issues and concerns of classified employees in all aspects of governance and decision making on matters that are not related to collective bargaining and contract negotiations.
—Supporting the professionalism of classified employees.
—Encouraging individual leadership, contribution, and development among classified employees.
—Making informed classified employees available for decision making within the democratic processes of Mesa College and the San Diego Community College District.
—Providing a centralized method of communicating between classified employees and other areas of the College.
—Collecting and disseminating information of interest to classified employees.
—Representing the interests of the classified staff in all matters before any policymaking committee or governing body of the College.
