Welcome

Canyon Day at Mesa College

Canyon Clean-Up 2013 was a HIT!

Thanks to the nearly 220 volunteers, students, faculty and staff who showed up for Canyon Clean-up on Sat., April 6. What a day it was! We pulled out of the canyon: a dozen shopping carts, mattresses, two toilets (one in pieces), a perfectly beautiful bike frame, 4 golf clubs, car backseat and bumper, palm trees, arondo "bamboo," tons of trash, and trash bags full of cigarette butts from Mesa College Circle.

Look for photos at the Mesa College facebook page (tag yourself and add a caption!). And, here's the link to the Ch. 10 news report:

Thank you to our students, staff, faculty and neighbors for helping us to truly make a difference in the community we live and work in.

CANYON DAY CLEAN-UP IS SLATED FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 6, 2013

Middle and high school students, families and community members join with the students, faculty and staff of San Diego Mesa College in an annual event to clean up of a branch of Tecolote Canyon adjacent to Mesa College. The event has evolved since its launch in 2007. This year Canyon Day will focus on the clean-up of Tecolote Canyon, followed by certificate presentation and refreshments on the grounds of the P100/200 buildings. Canyon Clean-up is also a fun way to complete community service requirements. Ranger Janice Lavallee of Tecolote Canyon Natural Park will lead the canyon cleanup. Canyon cleanup activities will include trash and invasive species removal. Tools and supplied are provided. Please see details and schedule by clicking on Canyon Clean-up at left.

Canyon Canyon Day Clean-Up Update. Wow! What a turnout!

Thank you so much for coming out to help clean our beautiful Tecolote Canyon! Professor Don Barrie and Ranger Janice Lavalle report that more than 206 community members, high school students and Mesa College students came out to clean Tecolote Canyon! Volunteers filled a huge dumpster truck with shopping cards, mattresses and literally, tons of trash and invasive species.

Check out the photos on our Facebook page (“like us” while you're there, and tag your photos!)

It was great to have Profs. Barrie, Bill Brothers and Leslie Sieger on hand, and even more wonderful to have our Interim President Liz Armstrong present. But YOU really made it happen! We're getting details on tonage and items removed from the canyon and we'll post them soon!

If you did not receive your certificate of participation, please email Lina Heil. We just got more printed and they will be in the mail shortly.
