Meet Nicole
Name: Nicole Magana
I am: Attending San Diego Mesa College
I have also attended the following College(s): N/A
I am taking classes preparing to transfer to: University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in Marine Biology.
One of the reasons this area is of interest to me is because: I would like to make a career studying marine animals and working towards the stewardship and conservation of marine species.
Research Interest and Experience: (describe your experience working in a lab and/or your interest in Research) I have been working under Dr. Rebecca Lewison in the Conservation Ecology Lab at SDSU. There I have been assigned to different projects as a research assitant. I have completed tasks such as data entry, sample analysis, and field assistant. This has given me hands-on experience in some of the many states of a research project. I am learning about what goes into designing, executing, and presenting research, as well as what skills and practices make a project successful.
Being involved in the Bridges Program at Mesa College has been helpful to me in the following way(s): It has allowed me to work in an internship that would not normally be available to me. Gaining this experience will set me apart from other candidates for programs that I want to apply to. It will give me the advantage over other students and bring me that much closer to achieving my goals.
