Name: Celia Martinez

I am a: Junior attending University of California San Diego

I have also attended the following College(s): San Diego Mesa College, San Diego City College

I am taking classes preparing to transfer to: N/A, majoring in Human Biology

One of the reasons this area is of interest to me is because: I want to become a Doctor and a real scientist, a researcher.

Research Interest and Experience: (describe your experience working in a lab and/or your interest in Research) I worked in a Biochemistry laboratory, with famous Dr. Russell (UCSD). It has been an amazing experience and very different from a college class lab. I feel like a real scientist and there is not a single day that passes that I don't learn something new.

Being involved in the Bridges Program at Mesa College has been helpful to me in the following way(s): It has open many doors and opportunities for my future career. It is the best head start I could ever think of. You meet people such as students, doctors and mentors everyday, which all give a little word of motivation that makes you be ahead of everybody else. Seminars had a lot to do with the daily learning experience. But the best, again, was networking. I say take advantage of it because it really puts you ahead. Dr. Alexander, Jodi Corliss and Anna have been very patient and wonderful to me. I will always be thankful to them.
