Mesa College Audiovisual Collection
Mesa College has a collection of videos and compact discs that is located in the Audiovisual (AV) Department of the LRC. It has over 1300 videos and 475 compact discs.
To search for a VHS videotape, DVD or CD, go to the AV Search page of the online library catalog. There you can search by keyword in the search box or browse the two categorized lists of videos (both VHS and DVD).
Faculty and staff may check out AV materials for classroom use. Faculty members may check out a maximum of five items which are due back not later than seven days after checkout. If an item needs to be reserved for a specific date, please arrange with an AV staff member. Students may view videos or listen to CDs in AV booths only; they cannot be taken out of the building.
AV Services now offers access to thousands of videos through the Films on Demand streaming database. Searchable by key word or broad discipline, videos include accompanying text which meets ADA requirements and copyright compliance. Clips of videos can be embedded into Blackboard.
San Diego and Imperial Counties Community College Consortium Video Library
Mesa College is a member of the Consortium Video Library. As a Mesa faculty member, you may borrow videos from this library for free.
You will need a client code to reserve videos through this service. Simply call the San Diego County Office of Education at 619-718-4983 (8am-4:30pm, Mon-Fri) or send an email to fabbyc@sdcoe.net and request a client code. Once you have your individual client code, your password is Mesa.
Once you have this, you are ready to search the consortium catalog (L4U) http://avserve.sdcoe.net and make your reservations. For detailed instructions of how to do this, go to Searching and Booking on the L4U Catalog and print out the one page document.
A requested video will be sent to Mesa's AV Department, located on the fourth floor of the LRC, where you can pick it up. When done with the video simply return it to AV. Deliveries are made on Monday morning and Thursday morning of each week.
Replacement costs are the responsibility of the borrower.
