4:30 p.m. - Football Alumni Gathering
5:30 p.m. - Ribbon cutting and remarks
6:00 p.m. - Mesa College Olympians vs. Mt. San Jacinto Eagles

The Mesa College football field and surrounding areas received a major face-lift after it was paved over last year to accommodate the construction of the now-complete parking structure and other east entry projects at Mesa College. The projects are part of the San Diego Community College District $1.55 billion Proposition S and N school bonds passed by voters in 2002 and 2006.

San Diego Mesa College Stadium was originally dedicated forty-five years ago and named after Merrill Douglas, Mesa’s first Athletic Director.

Many fine athletes have been a part of the Mesa Athletics in the last forty-five years. Mesa football players who have played in the National Football League include: Monty Jackson, Cliff Hicks, Lew Barnes, Matt Kofler, Jim Peterson, Scott O’Shell, Tony Banks, Casey Tisdale, Shon King, Paul Berner, Darren Comeaux, Ray Wells, Justin Green, Bob Leque, Matt Mazlowski, also successful NFL Coaches Mike Martz, Steve Fairchild, and world class track athletes Arnie Robinson, Olympic Gold and Bronze Medal winner in the Long Jump and Felix Sanchez, World Champion in the 400 meter hurdles.

All current and former Mesa football players are invited to attend the 4:30 alumni gathering. Please contact the San Diego Mesa College Athletic Department and speak with Dave Fager. He can be reached at (619) 388-2434 or dfager@sdccd.edu.

We hope to see you there!
