Under his guidance, the program won six Eastern League titles; three with the men's team and three with the women's. The men's team were CIF champions in 2002 and finished 9th in the state championships. They were also CIF runner-up in 2000, garnering the first state meet berth in school history. The league titles won by the women were the first in school history. Hunt was also the head track & field coach at Patrick Henry.

In addition to coaching, Hunt is the secretary of the Cross Country Executive Council of USATF. Locally, he serves as the men's long distance running chair for the San Diego-Imperial Association of USATF. Coach Hunt is a Level 1 USATF certified coach.
