Olympians Play Well but Fall Short

On opening day of the 2010 season, freshman Josh Maxwell pitched 6 strong innings, giving up just three hits and rendering the Eagles scoreless. Sophomore Thomas Landeros pitched well in relief, throwing two scorless innings without giving up a hit. However, Mesa was not able to hold their 1-0 lead going into the 9th inning. Mt. San Jacinto tied the game with an opposite field homerun, and later went ahead 2-1 with a sacrifice fly. Despite a lead off walk in the bottom of the 9th, the Olympians were not able to fill the 1 run defecit. Final score, Mesa 1, Mt. San Jacinto 2.

Opening Day is Just Around the Corner

The Mesa College baseball team will open it's season on Thursday, Feb 4 with a home and home series against Mt. San Jacinto College. Thursday's game will be played at Mesa College, and they will travel to Hemet on Saturday to complete the series. Last season, the San Jacinto Eagles were the Conference Champions out of the Foothill Conference, so Mesa it looking for a strong performance to start the 2010 season.
