The goal of the Animal Health Technology program is to provide a learning environment for the development of technical skills, personal attributes, and ethical principles necessary to serve as a professional in the veterinary field. This program provides education for those people desiring specialized training in animal health care; it is not a "stepping stone" for those who aspire to become veterinarians. An essential component of the education is Directed Clinical Practice (an internship). This community-based, on-the-job training is an extension of the classroom and is designed to aid the student in selecting a career path. To enhance your potential after graduation, students are encouraged to develop special skills and interests while at Mesa College. Each student has the opportunity to work with a wide variety of animals while in the program, ranging from domestic species to the exotic.
