2022 Prerequisite Courses 

Completion of the following prerequisite (or equivalent) courses with a minimum grade of “C” or higher is required. These prerequisite courses are designed to meet the general education curriculum requirements set forth by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). When taking prerequisite courses at another institution, please verify with counseling, before enrollment, that they transfer to Mesa College. NO in-progress prerequisite courses will be accepted.  At the present time, radiology courses from other Radiology Programs do not transfer and the program does not accept Advancement Placement.

  1. BIOL 160 Elements of Human Anatomy & Physiology (4 units) or equivalent courses at least 4 semester units, including a lab, within five (5) years of application date. If another college divides this into two courses, both courses must be taken. A letter grade must be awarded with a grade “C” or higher.
  2. MATH 96 Intermediate Algebra & Geometry (5 units) or higher MATH course or the following Statistics courses, BIOL 200, BUSE 115, HEIT 256, POLI 201, PSYC 258 within five (5) years of application date. A letter grade must be awarded with a grade “C” or higher.  M50 will not meet the math requirement.
    Math 15C Intermediate Algebra & Geometry Refresher (1 unit) may be taken if your Math course is beyond the five (5) years. This course must be successfully completed prior the application date. A letter grade of "P" must be awarded - this is a pass-fail course.
  3. RADT 50 Concepts in Imaging Technology (2 units) must be taken at Mesa College within five (5) years of application date. NO substitute course or course equivalency from another institution will be accepted.  A letter grade must be awarded with a grade “C” or higher.  Not available until Spring 2021.
  4. PHYS 100 Introductory Physics (4 units) or equivalent course within five (5) years of application date. A lab is not required for the program; however, if physics is taken at a college outside the District, a higher level may be required to meet the general education requirements. A letter grade must be awarded with a grade “C” or higher.
  5. MEDA 110 Medical Terminology (3 units) or equivalent course (1 unit or higher) within five (5) years of application date. A letter grade must be awarded with a grade “C” or higher.
  6. COMS  103 Oral Communication (3 units) or COMS 135 Interpersonal Communication (3 units) or COMS 170 Small Group Communication (3 units) or COMS 180 Intercultural Communication (3 units) or equivalent course will be accepted. A letter grade must be awarded with a grade “C” or higher.

     

    NOTE:  CISC 181 has been removed as a prerequisite and will not be accepted as a replacement course for the 2022 RADT Application.
