Application Instructions

Applying

Applications for Fall 2017 are now being accepted.

Deadlines to apply:

Friday, April 14th at 3:00pm
: First Review of Applications

Thursday, April 27th at 6:00pm: Final Deadline for Applications

Applicants must complete the following:

    1. Apply online to San Diego Mesa College
    2. Complete the Supplemental Application for Health Information Management Baccalaureate
    3. Submit a complete application packet to the Dean of Health Sciences and Public Service

  1. Request official transcripts be sent directly to the San Diego Community College District. See "Submission of Transcripts" section @ SDCCD Evaluations

    *If you have graduated from  Mesa, City, or Miramar College in the last year, contact the district records office to confirm that all official transcripts are current and on file

The Application Packet

A complete application packet includes the following requirements:

  1. Supplemental Application
    The Supplemental Application for Admission to the Baccalaureate Program in Health Information Management

  2. Statement of Interest
    A one-page typewritten statement of interest, including your background and the reasons you are applying to the baccalaureate program (minimum 10 point font and single space).
  3. Two References
    A list of two references including one faculty member and one person currently working in the field of health information.
    The information listed for each reference must include:
    • Email Address
    • Cellphone Number
    • Work Telephone Number
  4. Unofficial Transcripts

Screening Process

Students with complete applications will be placed on a “qualified applicants” list. Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will NOT be considered. The program admits up to 32 students. Completion of all designated prerequisites does not guarantee admission.

All "qualified applicants" will have their application packet evaluated using a scoring rubric. The top candidates will be sent an invitation to interview. The interviews will include a written exercise.

To Cancel/Withdraw

Any candidate wishing to withdraw or cancel their application must provide immediate written communication to the Dean of Health Sciences and Public Service office.
