Theme One: Global Food Security
"Today, 795 million people around the world, 11 percent of the global population,
do not have access to a sufficient supply of safe and nutritious food. The United
Nations estimates that worldwide demand for food will increase 60 percent by 2050."
Theme Two: Hunger
"The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that about 795 million people of the 7.3 billion people in the world, or one in nine, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2014-2016. Almost all the hungry people, 790 million, live in developing countries."
Theme Three: Sustainability
"One of the most urgent challenges facing the world today, scientists agree, is ensuring
the adequate supply and quality of water in light of burgeoning human needs and climate
variability and change"
